Maitipage Athula Rohitha Samarasekera (born August 5, 1961, Galle) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played four Tests and 39 ODIs between 1983 to 1994.
Athula Samarasekera had his education at Mahinda College, Galle. His elder brother Anura Samarasekera was a First-class cricketer in Sri Lanka.[1] Athula currently lives in Victoria with his family. He works as a coach for Cannon Sports and coaches young cricketers in the art of batting and bowling. He was an aggressive batsman and more than handy bowler, but failed to make his mark in international cricket with the limited opportunities he got.
